The Sophist Agency, launched in 2025, is a publishing and online literary and cultural publication dedicated to Expression, Excellence, and Evolution. We publish books, short stories, reflective essays, creative nonfiction, poetry, narratives that explore identity, culture, justice, and human experiences, cultural commentary, and narrative journalism. We especially welcome writers from underrepresented backgrounds and perspectives.

The Sophist Journal, the online publication division of The Sophis Agency, is seeking contributing writers with a gift for storytelling that is literary and purposeful. We are interested in essays and poetry pieces that revisit familiar figures, moments of fresh perspectives, reflective, interpretive, or insightful.
We welcome submissions that:
- Examine historical or cultural figures in thoughtful ways
- Revisit books, art, or cultural moments with new interpretations
- Explore lived experience in relation to larger social or cultural themes
- Offer reflective, narrative, or essayistic writing with a clear point-of-view
We are not seeking listicles, SEO content, AI-generated writing, or trend-based commentary.
Submission Guidelines:
- Essays and Reflective Pieces: 700-1200 words
- Submissions must be original and unpublished elsewhere.
- Include your name, a short bio (2-3 sentences), and contact info
- Submission should be in .docx or Google Doc format, include title and word count in the header or at the top

For longer pieces, 1200-1500, please follow the pitch guidelines below:
- A 2-4 paragraph pitch of 300-500 words describing your idea that includes the title and genre (please do not send full drafts unless requested)
- Proposed length/word count

- 1-2 writing samples (this can include links)

Additional Information:
All submissions must adhere to the specified word count range. If a piece exceeds the maximum, the editors will edit it down or return it for revision.
